Yishun truly deserves its own President

Yishun, the town with a reputation just upped its own ante.

Cat abuse, murder, car chases, brothel raids, civilians trying to attack policemen with stun guns, loan sharks, falling concrete slabs, sinkholes, feuding taxi drivers, shopping mall stabbings and now maybe even the first Malay lady president.

Ong Teng Cheong may be the people’s president but I’m not sure if he has ever stepped foot in Yishun.

When you have a candidate that dares to stay put with the mad and the bad, you know she got heart (and balls).

The Speaker of Parliament, who last night announced that she will run in the upcoming presidential election, said she is very comfortable in her flat in Yishun, where she has lived for more than 30 years.

She said: “I don’t see why I can’t continue, unless of course there are other considerations like security, for instance. Because I know it can be quite a nightmare to ensure security in public housing.”
